UtahDiving.com Launched!

Welcome, divers, to the UtahDiving.com web site. This site is dedicated to serving Utah. Help us make this site useful. Tell us what you like, don't like, or wish we'd include on this web site.

UtahDiving.com was started by Bruce Argyle and Dominic Bria. We've added Mike Engberson as "Dive Buddy Numero Uno" to help us visit and evaluate Utah's dive sites. Up front, let us admit: there are a thousand divers who know more about Utah's waters than we do. But since nobody else started a dedicated Utah web site, here it is -- UtahDiving.com.

Bruce is an emergency physician at Cottonwood Hospital and Alta View Hospital in Salt Lake City. He writes medical training software, including the award-winning "Cardiac Arrest" advanced cardiac life support simulator. Bruce has seven children, four of whom scuba dive. A former rock 'n roll musician, he dabbles at hiking, water skiing, snow skiing, mountain biking, painting, and photography. See his video tutorials and scuba photography tutorials on this web site. Bruce will be doing most of the HTML coding for UtahDiving.com. In the photo at right, the Doc exults after a particularly awesome water skiing run at Utah Lake.

We envision a site that's useful and fun. Dive sites will be reviewed, with information including water temperatures, visibility, fish life, and where you can get air fills. We'll put your scuba pictures on the web -- your moment of glory. We'll provide a reference source for fish and game regulations. But most of all, we want you to get excited about diving in this pretty, great state.

Known as "The Dominator" for his wakeboarding prowess, Dominic Bria tries to find time to water ski, snow ski, hike, and mountain bike. He lives in Lehi and has four children.

Dominic has a degree in communications and an MBA in marketing. His full-time job is marketing directory for Bridgepoint in Salt Lake City. He'll be managing the business side of UtahDiving.com. In this photo, Dominic has a smallmouth bass for breakfast at Deer Creek Reservoir.

d-starv3.jpg (10619 bytes) Mike Engberson runs Mad Scientist Software, a medical training software business in Alpine. He just started diving in 1998, but he's rapidly becoming an expert on Utah's waters. His newness to the sport is actually an advantage to us, because he sees things through fresh eyes. And his enthusiasm sparks us to get out to the lake and make that dive.

Mike is married to Bruce's wife's sister. (He's also married to Dominic's wife's sister, and Dominic is married to Bruce's wife's sister. Figure it out.)  In the photo at left, Mike is preparing to do a little hunting.

We'll need help. We have regular jobs and families, so we can't get to every dive site during the different seasons. It would be a delight for us to publish YOUR dive site reviews and your pictures. Don't be shy; you have information that your fellow divers need. Thanks!
